So I grew up here in Shallotte, NC. Electrician by trade but after joining the local volunteer fire department, I knew that the fire service would be the career for me!! I got hired by the Myrtle beach fire department in 1997 and rode the big red trucks ever since!! While there I got involved with Camp Can Do, a summer camp for burn injured children. I went to the first camp and have been to every one since. As long as I’m up right and walking I’ll be at camp!! I’ve sat on the board of directors at the burn fund many years and always do what I can to improve the program!! I retired from the FD in 2019 and started OnShore Decor. I enjoy spending time out in the shop making things and creating things that make people smile. Of course I’m very involved in the community and volunteer with many civic groups. I have a knack for fixin’ things and you can find me putting up a ceiling fan, repairing an ole wooden shrimp boat, help a friend fix a car, etc. But working in the shop with chickens around my feet is what I truly enjoy. And people really enjoy the stuff I make. It’s like no other!!!
I get asked a lot what makes my designs different from all the rest out there. Well the main thing is, all the material I use comes from the coast. I love being outdoors so that gives me the perfect opportunity to find things. Driftwood, shells, old rope, old building material, trees, metal, etc. The modern term for all this stuff is re-purposing. Depending on what it is, I say it’s the original purpose. I’ve found several pieces of driftwood that mother nature created just for YOUR home. took her a while to get it right though. I have a small one man sawmill and I love cutting fresh Carolina long leaf pine and coastal red cedar. Long leaf is the only pine that turns to heart, or fat lighter as the Southerners like to say. I can’t even begin to tell you how many nice things you can make from the jumbo pine cones they produce. After all, I am the original creator of Pineflowers.
So now that I’ve got your curiosity up, what would you like to decorate your home with??? I make several types of decor items like you can find at the commercial outlets, only mine are made right here, by hand, in my shop, from local material. If you’re looking for a whole house theme for your new house, or even if you’re remodeling, that’s a little different. Obviously if you already have a theme that defines who you are we will go with that. If not, well that will cost you a few lunches. I pride myself on being a people person. I need to get to know you before I can decide what I want to make for you. A lot of folks move to the beach but have absolutely no idea of the design choices that are available. Material straight from the salt, or woods or marsh. I love being able to get to know you, design a theme, and make your coastal home a real “built from the coast” coastal home!! So contact me. We need to get working on the decor that really brought you to the beach!!!
Also keep an eye out for me at some of the local craft shows. The city park at Sunset Beach is my favorite with events like the Strawberry and Wine festival or the Sunset at Sunset event. Silver Coast Winery is when I carry on the Christmas tradition with my rustic Christmas tree lot!! But watch my home home page for “What’s happening now” and see where I might be next!!
